It says in another Proverb that God hates even a proud look. You’ll never find a gentle, humble person causing a fight. Pride causes contention (or arguments and disagreements), because the proud person thinks they are right and everyone else is wrong. If you have a tendency to be proud ask the Lord to help you overcome it and put it in the place of death.
